Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda are Oregon (USA) based musical artists in the genre of mantra music and heart songs. They offer a unique mix of kirtan, healing mantra music, singer/songwriter devotional English songs and Kirtronica (Mantra/Kirtan based electronic dance music). They both sing, play guitar and harmonium and in addition Ananda plays bansuri flute and Jaya Lakshmi plays keyboard. They are known for their powerful blend of modern and ancient soundscapes that touches the heart and brings listeners to connected state.
They tour year round, mostly on the west coast of the USA. Their latest musical release is Ananda’s “Flower of Life” album.
“Listening to Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda is like being serenaded by a choir of angels. They sweep you up and lift you to a blissful state, infuse you with sweetness and leave you with a sense of the Sacred within all life. Sublime.” Kia Miller (Renowned Teacher of Yoga, Founder of Radiant Body Yoga)
Their story is one of embracing each others’ spiritual paths. Jaya Lakshmi has her roots with the Gaudiya Vaishnavs (Radha and Krishna devotional path) and Ananda with Kundalini Yoga tradition as taught by Yogi Bhajan. They saw it as a divine gift and embraced each other’s past and entered into what would become their own devotional fusion. They share chants and yoga practices from both traditions along with their other sources of devotional inspiration.
In addition, they courageously embarked on their intimate, artistic, devotional and business relationship with quite a large age gap between them. Jaya Lakshmi was born in 1965 and Ananda in 1985. They feel that although there have been challenges, this age gap has been much more of a blessing than a challenge. They both feel incredibly blessed to be able to share in partnership with the world.
‘Through music and chanting, Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda take us on a soulful pilgrimage to the holy temples of the gods and goddesses through mantra. Every song transports us and reminds us that we are the divine embodied here on earth. They help bring our voice and creative expression into the world for the benefit of All Beings.” Sianna Sherman (Renowned Teacher of Yoga, Tantra and Eastern Mysticism, Founder of Rasa Yoga)
